Talawanda High School E-News - October 4th, 2019

Reminders:

• Talawanda High School will be hosting FAFSA Day on Wednesday, Oct. 9th from 10 am-7 pm in the Media Center.  A consultant from Heavin College and Career Center, as well as financial aid experts from Miami University, will be on hand to provide private, free, 1-1 assistance completing the FAFSA and interpreting your results. No appointment is needed, students and their parent/guardian will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis. We hope to see all of our college-bound seniors and their families at this important event!

• Volley for the Cure and other Brave Cares events!

• Register now for A Brave 5K!  The run/walk will take place at Oxford Community Park on Saturday, November 9 at 9:00 a.m.  For more details, visit this web site.  Awards to the first Talawanda employee and graduate.  There will also be overall and age group awards. All proceeds will benefit the Talawanda Cross Country and Track & Field teams.

• The Homecoming Dance is October 12th from 8p-12a. We are looking for parent chaperones! If you are interested in helping out, please contact Becky Morgan at morganb@talawanda.org or 513-273-3238. 

• The THS Homecoming parade is Thursday, October 10, leaving Millett parking lot at 6:00 sharp, with the usual route headed west on High St. If you have a convertible, Jeep, ATV, or any other fun means of transportation, we will have class representatives looking for a smart ride on the parade route! Contact Ms Mann if you'd like to volunteer your vehicle! And, our 2019 parade Grand Marshals are Kelly Spivey and Phil Cagwin, former TSD Superintendents.

• The Talawanda Health Coordinating Council is committed to creating a healthier community by addressing non-academic barriers to learning, building upon family and community strengths, and involving families and other community members in all phases of student success.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has provided information regarding the health risks of e-cigarette use by kids, teens, and young adults.  Please click on the link below to learn more. • Senior picture deadline for the yearbook has been set to March 6th.  Please email your senior picture to yearbook@talawanda.org before the deadline to make sure your image gets into the 2020 THS yearbook!

• There will be a meeting Wednesday, October 9th at 7 PM in the high school cafeteria for anyone interested in joining the high school swim & dive team this year.  Practice and meet schedules will be distributed at this meeting and you will also be able to meet the coaches of the team and learn the expectations for those individuals who want to compete for the team this year.  If you cannot make the meeting please email Coach Pasquale at pasquales@talawanda.org.
