School News and Information

Happy Friday! We know it has been a crazy week and we are certainly headed into unchartered territory. We also know that information is constantly changing and sometimes by the minute. At this point you are aware that your child’s device (Chromebook or iPad) was sent home with them yesterday in preparation for an extended school closure. While we had hoped for another day to more fully prepare students for the closure that was not possible. However, the teachers and staff in the Talawanda School District have worked throughout today to plan learning activities and tasks for our online learning days. Online learning days have been designated as March 18, 19, 20, 30, 31, and April 1, 2, 3. We will still observe our planned Spring Break the week of March 23. In addition to classroom assignments, the following are links for Art, Music, and PE activities.

Information about the activities for these days will come from your child’s teacher. Many of our teachers will use the communication systems they have had in place throughout the school year - email, text messaging or other communication apps and through Google classroom for the students (especially in grades 3-5). If at any time during these online learning days you have questions you can always email your child’s teacher - addresses are listed below.

All buildings will be staffed on Monday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm to pick up any medication, devices or work. We are also in the building to answer any questions you may have.

The district iPads and Chromebooks have apps loaded on them. We are unable to give you the passwords to download additional apps. If you want to load additional apps to devices, you’ll need to put it on your own personal device. If you have no access to the internet or email and are in need of paper versions of activities, please contact Mr. Hinton @hintonc@talawanda.org

During this time away from school please avoid large gatherings, cover your coughs using your elbow, avoid the touching of your eyes, nose and mouth, and wash your hands frequently. The purpose of this closure is to slow the spread of the virus and this can only be done if each of us takes a few extra precautions. Be safe and stay healthy.
