A Peaceful, Productive, Healthy, and Happy Community
The mission of Marshall Elementary is to work as a community to achieve higher levels of thinking and learning by empowering every learner everyday.
School News and Information
Happy Friday! We have had a great week. We continue to learn each day even while testing and packing things. The building is starting to be filled with what looks like giant cardboard legos. We are getting excited about the move to our new building.
From our Marshall PTG - Our profit from the flower sales was over $3500! Many many thanks from your proud PTG!
As a reminder April 28 will be our last day for in person learning at Marshall. April 29 and April 30 will be asynchronous learning days as staff finish the final packing and relocation of materials. Beginning May 3 classes will meet via Zoom for remote learning - schedules for each grade level can be found here. We look forward to a wonderful new facility and the start of a new school year hopefully more like normal.
Marshall Remote Meal Survey for May
We previously shared information with you about a childcare option through the YMCA and located at the Fitton Family Y in Hamilton that is available during this time of remote learning. They will definitely be running the program and have room for more students - even if it is only for certain days. Here is the flyer.
5th Grade Graduation - Unfortunately due to capacity guidelines for indoor facilities we will not be able to hold graduation at the high school performing art center. After we counted the students and staff, we would only have room for 1 parent per child. We are exploring other options but at the very least will hold a virtual ceremony for our 5th graders at Marshall. This was a wonderful production last year and families could gather in small groups for a watch party this year. In order to prepare for graduation we are still in need of photos of the 5th graders (1 from Kindergarten and 1 from Now - they do not need to be school pictures). Please email these photos to Mrs. Slattery - slatterys@talawanda.org.
End of the year events: As we plan for the end of the year and specifically our time for in person learning we plan to hold many of the traditional events - Field Day, Clapout, etc (in modified ways) at the end of April.
For our 3rd to 5th Graders - State Testing will continue next week and continue until April 23. It is always beneficial for students to get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and to be reminded to take their time, read carefully, and do their very best. Our students are prepared and we know they will do well.

Covid-19 Guidelines (Previously Shared)
If anyone in your household is being tested for Covid-19 and you are waiting for results, you must keep all of your children at home until you receive the results. When you receive the results please contact our school nurse and she can provide you with further information.
If anyone in your household is experiencing any of the following symptoms: Cough, Shortness of Breath, or NEW loss of taste and/or smell, please keep all of your children home until you have more information from a doctor on the cause of the symptoms.
If anyone in your household has two (2) or more of the following symptoms please keep all of your children home until you have more information from a doctor on the cause of the symptoms.
Bus Reminder - Regarding Mask
Please remember that your child must wear their mask at all times while on the school bus. Students need to have them on before boarding the bus - it may be helpful to place a back up mask in their backpack. Our drivers have a very limited supply of emergency masks available to hand out to students who do not have a mask. Drivers will refer students to the office who repeatedly show up to the bus without a mask on. Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping everyone safe and in school.
