FLUency School Health Program
In order to receive a FREE thermometer you need to register. This is for all elementary students (both in person and face to face). If you are face to face and don’t have one this is a great way to get one especially since you need to be taking temperatures everyday before school.
Mrs. Fangman, TSD Nurse shared the following information.
I am excited to let you know this great news! I applied for this and we were selected. This year Talawanda School District has been selected to participate in the FLUency School Health Program. The mission of the program is to prevent the spread of illness during cold and flu season at schools. The program works by providing our Elementary school families and staff with free award-winning Kinsa thermometers, our teachers free disinfectants, and our nurses with a private dashboard to see what's going around the school community (if parents choose to share anonymously).
The goal is to help stop illnesses before they even have the chance to spread. Families have the option to anonymously log and track symptoms and receive real-time, personalized guidance so they're able to make more informed decisions about when to take their child to the doctor and when to keep them home from school. You will also be able to monitor the anonymous health trends of your school community so you can react appropriately and encourage preventive health measures to keep healthy students well.
To learn more about the FLUency program, what we'll be receiving, and program timelines, please watch the short informational video here.

YMCA Before and After School Care
The YMCA does not have enough students for the before and after school program. The YMCA is still communicating with families in hopes of opening the program at Marshall.
