Helpful Reminders- Thank you Mr. HInton and Marshall
One of the things we know about times of crisis is that sticking to a routine is crucial to our own mental health. So, we’ve put together 10 tips on how to maintain a routine of kindness during difficult times:
Feel free to contact me with any questions or needs. I can be reached at winslowj@talawanda.org.
In these trying times with families spending so much extra time at home with physical distancing, distance learning, remote work, etc. parents are strained more than ever. PAX Tools is something that can help! PAX Tools is a collection of evidence-based, trauma-informed strategies for caregivers to improve cooperation and self-regulation with children. PAX Tools draws on decades of science to create strategies that support parent/caregivers to create a nurturing environment that ultimately helps kids thrive!
Kristen Smith, Prevention Coordinator for Envision Partnerships, is a trained PAX Tools Community Educator. She will be offering a virtual format for the PAX Tools Workshop Thursday, April 9, 3:00- 4:30 pm
This FREE workshop aims to help parents/caregivers in limiting problematic behaviors and reinforcing prosocial behaviors with their children, creating a home environment that is not just surviving but thriving! Caregivers who participate in this virtual workshop will receive free materials they need to effectively use PAX Tools with children, including the free PAX Tools App
Register for this workshop by clicking on the link below. Will you also please help spread the word by sharing this blog with your friends who would benefit from more peace, productivity, health and happiness at home? A time like this really highlights how we are all in this together.

Tutor.com
I wanted to let you know about a great new service the Lane Libraries has subscribed to: Tutor.com. I just attended a webinar about all the offerings on this site, and WOW--I really think this could help take the load off your faculty and parents. Services include 1-to-1 tutoring in a ton of K-12 subjects, plus essay review/feedback within 12 hours of submission! I've attached two informational flyers (one for parents and one for educators) for you to share if you would be willing to help us spread the word.
The service is now live on our website: https://lanepl.org/tutor
Folks will need their library card and pin number to log in. If they don't have a card (or have misplaced it), they can sign up for a temporary e-card at https://www.lanepl.org/covid-19.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
You may have heard that Dolly Parton's Imagination Library recently expanded to include all children Birth-5 in Butler County. This is wonderful news, as each enrolled child will receive 1 FREE book a month in the mail until their 5th birthday. Here is the link: https://ohioimaginationlibrary.org/enroll

Health and Safety
For resources on addressing the coronavirus please visit:
https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/
During this time away from school please stay at home, cover your coughs using your elbow, avoid the touching of your eyes, nose and mouth, and wash your hands frequently. The purpose of this closure is to slow the spread of the virus and this can only be done if each of us takes a few extra precautions. This also means not using the school grounds as a place to gather and play - our playgrounds and schools grounds are closed. Be safe and stay healthy.
5th Grade Parents ONLY:
To plan schedules for TMS, please click the link below to indicate which music class your rising 6th grader would prefer.

AR Update
If you were unable to access AR please try again. The company needed to release the test to be given outside of the school network and it should work now.

WiFi hotspots are still on backorder so if we have not been able to connect you with one you may want to try some of the options that various companies are offering for free. Just remember to cancel when the offer expires.
As an option you may drive to school and park near the building and access the schools’ WiFi from your car on your school provided device. Just remember to stay in your car. While school is closed you are not to be gathering at school - this also means not playing on the playground or equipment.
