Bogan Elementary Weekly E-News

Message from Dr. Niehaus
I’d like to thank the Talawanda School District, the Bogan staff and parents, for the warm welcome as I began the interim principalship at Bogan this week. I arrived at Bogan during conference week and was amazed at how well the PTG fed us during conference nights. Thank you for all of the treats.
My number one goal as principal, is to keep students safe. In looking at the dismissal procedures, I have decided to tweak one of the procedures for parents picking up their children in the back of the school.
Bogan was very creative when designing the most efficient way to pick-up and deliver students to school during the Covid crisis. The bus pick-up used to be at the back of the building and the car rider pick-up was traditionally in the front of the building. This year that system was reversed due to the number of cars involved. This week I observed a few students walking between the cars in order to enter their pick-up car on the passenger side. Some students are so small that they can not be easily seen by all drivers. Therefore, I’m asking every parent (or person picking up) to allow their child or children to enter the car on the drivers side (curbside). If there is a reason that a child cannot enter the pick-up car on the drivers side, then I ask that the parent (or driver) get out of the car and walk that child to the passenger side. I have asked our new SRO, Deputy Thibault, to be present at the back of the building during dismissal starting Monday, March 29th, the day we return from spring break. I thank you in advance for helping to make our dismissal procedures more safe for our students.
Again, thank you for allowing me to serve as the interim principal at Bogan. Enjoy Spring Break and stay safe.
