Spring Gifted Testing Opportunity
The Ohio Department of Education requires all school districts to offer two opportunities per year to parents/guardians to have their student assessed for possible gifted identification. All referrals for the Gifted Testing must be done using the electronic form linked below. Phone calls to buildings or the Gifted staff will be referred to this form. We ask that parents understand that we have to schedule rooms, proctors, materials, etc. and that the earlier a parent/guardian requests testing using this form, the better it is for everyone.
Please note - formal gifted services do not begin until 3rd grade. All second graders are assessed for gifted services in the spring. Spring Testing requests are due by midnight on March 31st. Referrals after March 31st will be placed on a list for the next testing round in the fall. Talawanda provides parents/guardians with written notification of any assessment results within 30 days of receiving those results.
Please use the link below for registration.

There have been recent concerns about online safety of children. Here are a few tips:
-Do not allow students to have underaged social media accounts (typically age 13)
-Check your students privacy settings on all accounts
-Use software that filters inappropriate content like Net Nanny or My Mobile Watchdog
-Create clear and defined rules for technology usage, continually have conversations about expectations and how to handle potential concerns
-Get to know who your child is communicating with both online and in person
-Keep your computer or tablets in a central location- be mindful to not allow your child to take their cell phones or tablets to their rooms, set time limits for technology usage
-Monitor what your student is posting
-Set a good example- teach your children about an “online reputation”
