Bogan Elementary Weekly E-News
October 30, 2020
School News and Information
Another week in the books for our face to face and remote learners. It sounds like it was another great week in all of our classrooms. Thank you to all of the students, teachers and parents for their flexibility this week.
Thank you to families who are keeping students home out of an abundance of caution. We are monitoring Covid-19 numbers in the community and doing our best to keep everyone safe. Thanks for doing your part.
We will continue to remind students to wear their mask, covering their mouth and nose. Remember if the mask is a little too big you can tie a knot in the ear loops so it fits a little better and stays up. In addition, we will continue to remind students to use good hand hygiene and to keep their hands away from their face. We worked on social distancing and how to create space in the classroom and hallway.
In addition, if your child has any signs or symptoms please keep your child at home as a precaution. It is especially important that if you have knowingly been exposed to someone with the COVID-19 virus that you quarantine for 14 days. Please Note: if a student comes to school who has been exposed and then they test positive, this may cause an entire class to be in quarantine for 14 days in addition to the health risk of possibly exposing others. Thank you for helping everyone remain safe and healthy.
No School Nov. 3, 2020
Please remember that there is no school for face to face or remote students on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The schools are used for voting and this is a district wide professional development day for the staff.
Don’t forget to send a water bottle with your child to school. Also, if your child is packing their lunch, please place their first and last name on the lunchbox.
Arrival and Dismissal
Thanks for following the new traffic pattern at Bogan. Please watch for moving buses as you enter or exit the school parking lot. We have staff regulating traffic, but buses have the right of way. Thanks for your cooperation.
Destination Imagination Informational Meeting Announcement:
Talawanda's Destination Imagination program is a great way to get your student involved in a STEAM (STEM + Art!) activity even among the chaos of COVID-19! It is a team based challenge program that requires creativity and teamwork. Teams can choose to solve one of six challenges in the areas of science, technology, fine arts, improv, outreach, and engineering - or teams of K-2nd grade kids can do the early learning challenge. This year's program is designed with virtual teamwork and social distancing in mind. Use your imagination to solve these problems, make a video of your solution to be appraised at the tournaments in the spring.
There is a $55 fee to compete on a Destination Imagination team (team manager children's fees will be waived and need based scholarships are available).
The Information meeting will take place via Zoom on Thursday, November 5th from 6-7pm. To receive details of the zoom, complete this sign-up sheet, email Bob Black at di@talawanda.org, or text 513-280-3061:

Masks Are Mandatory at School
Here is a video in case you or your child has questions about masks. https://youtu.be/erxczymki0g Staff will help students with their masks. Students who refuse to wear a mask properly may be moved to the online learning platform. Thanks for your support.
Important Reminder for All TSD Parents:
Talawanda School District needs your partnership in keeping our students, staff, and families safe during the pandemic we are experiencing. It's critical that parents do a wellness check on each child every day before school. If your child exhibits any symptoms for COVID-19, please keep your child and their siblings home from school until you have an alternative diagnosis or negative test result. See the checklist below.
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of reported symptoms – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to SARS-CoV-2. Symptoms can include:
TSD is working on additional ways to report your child's illness/absence to school. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
